Overview

The Stein Eriksen Lodge exemplifies a blend of Scandinavian elegance and mountain architecture that natives of Stein Eriksen's homeland of Norway have long enjoyed.  The main lodge houses 13 of the guest accommodations, with the rest in separate buildings connected to the main lodge and each other by heated outdoor walkways.

This ski-in/ski-out resort boasts immediate access to some of the best snow in the world, and with your personal Ski Valet making sure your boots are pre-warmed and waiting for you in the morning, and handing you a steaming mug of hot chocolate when your day is done, you'll experience pampering at the highest level.

Unwind and get rejuvenated after some challenging skiing with a massage or body wrap at the Stein Erkisen Lodge's full-service European style Spa.  Or if exploring is more your style, the Stein Eriksen Lodge is only minutes away from historic downtown Park City, once a silver mining town and now home to the world-famous Sundance Film Festival as well as art galleries, shops, restaurants, and other interesting attractions.

Skiing

Spread out over four mountains, Deer Valley offers excellent skiing for every level of skier, from beginners to experts. To accommodate this, Deer Valley boasts one of the finest grooming fleets in the ski industry.

Stein Eriksen Lodge Skier photoStrong skiers in search of steeper, ungroomed trails and Utah's famous light powder will be rewarded on numerous runs in the Sultan and Mayflower areas.   The 9,100-foot Flagstaff Mountain offers a variety of intermediate and beginner ski trails especially well suited for family skiing, in addition to extensive gladed areas. Skiers also will find access to Ontario Bowl along with spectacular views of Park City and the mountains to the east.  Empire Canyon, at 9,570 feet, offers intermediate terrain along with some of the most advanced skiing at Deer Valley, including eight chutes and three bowls. Empire Canyon also will be home to a new lift-served family ski area. A new triple chairlift and two new ski runs will provide even more room for family fun.

Ideal for families, Deer Valley not only offers varying terrain, but its ski school has many programs for all ages: children, teenagers and adults alike. The ski school also operates a licensed childcare facility for non-skiing children ages 2 months to 12 years old.

Dining

The luxurious mountainside Glitretind Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekly for Sunday Brunch with live music.  The food is New American gourmet cuisine, and the setting is bright and open feeling, due to its many windows offering stunning views of the mountains, while evenings take on a warm and elegant ambiance, perfect for a romantic rendezvous.

Stein Eriksen Lodge Restaurant photoLast year, the Glitretind was one of a handful of places to win a Santé Restaurant award.  This prestigious industry award is yet another acknowledgement of the wonderful dining experience created by Executive Chef Zane Holmquist and his dynamic staff.

In addition, the Glitretind boasts Sommelier Cara Schwindt, a perfect guide for wine novices and connoisseurs alike, to assist in pairing wine with your menu selection.  She is also responsible for purchasing and selecting their wine, which now features 8,000 thousand bottles and more than 350 different labels.

There is also the Troll Hallen Lounge, a very comfortable living-room-like area open from 11:30 am to midnight, serving cocktails and light meals.   It's a great spot for lunch, a fondue, or appetizers.  It’s also the perfect après ski environment to lounge about, sit by the blazing fireplace, and soak up wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.  The environment is casual, but you’ll find the menu has panache. Guilty pleasures include garlic cheese fries with asiago cheese and Stein’s Burger featuring white cheddar and angus beef. Lighter fare includes curry spiced Mahi-Mahi with mango cucumber relish, and a Spinach and Pear Salad with walnut pesto and Point Reyes Blue Cheese dressing.
